PRP for Skin Rejuvenation
The key to smooth, youthful, and beautiful skin is in your blood! Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a revolutionary medical treatment that augments and regenerates hard and soft tissues using components found naturally in human blood. Doctors have used PRP Therapy for more than two decades in dentistry, orthopedics, and other branches of medicine for its ability to repair damaged tissue. Today, more medical practitioners are using this groundbreaking therapy for aesthetic (cosmetic) medical purposes.
At ReGenMed, we use PRP Therapy for a variety of clinical applications and procedures, including facial rejuvenation. Dr. Jethani, a board certified physician with a background in surgery, has over 30 years of clinical experience addressing joint pain, tendon issues and has kept up to date with the advances in alleviating pain and helping his patients look and feel young.
The aged skin has less collagen, low elasticity, a reduced amount of hyaluronic acid, and low ability to retain moisture.
Release of Growth Factors from Platelet Component (PRP)
Cell growth is activated and collagen is produced.
Regeneration & Rejuvenation
Collagen is produced and skin elasticity is improved. The ability to retain moisture is restored.
PRP For Use
When used aesthetically, PRP Therapy manipulates the body’s remarkable ability to heal itself, stimulating new cell growth and restoring the skin’s youthful texture, tone, and facial volume. PRP concentrate can be applied topically to reverse early signs of aging, but at ReGenMed, we inject the serum directly into problem areas of the face to reverse signs of aging and rejuvenate the skin at the cellular level.
At the start of the procedure, blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from other components of the blood. Once the platelets are separated and concentrated, Dr. Jethani extracts and injects them back into the skin to initiate the repair process.
Once injected, the PRP concentrate releases growth factors that signal stem cells to the injection site. When the stem cells proliferate in the affected area, they transform into new skin cells and promote the growth of new collagen, altering the structure of the skin at the deepest layers beyond the surface. This reparative process leaves the skin tighter and more even in tone and texture by simply directing the body to repair itself.
Benefits of PRP Therapy for Skin Rejuvenation
There are a number of advantages to using PRP Therapy for skin rejuvenation in comparison to injectable cosmetics and surgery. PRP is safe and natural, eliminating the risk of adverse side effects and complications because the reparative agent used to rejuvenate the skin is derived from the body.
Most cosmetic fillers are formulated using foreign substances that simply fill out facial imperfections, but PRP Therapy promotes new collagen growth for total facial rejuvenation at the cellular level, rather than treating imperfections individually. By generating new collagen, PRP Therapy provides skin rejuvenation results that’ll last well beyond a few weeks or months, and with the proper maintenance routine, results from a single PRP injection can last for up to 18 months, unlike many injectable cosmetics.
PRP Therapy is also non-surgical, allowing patients to enjoy fast, effective, and scar-free results. The scarless, rapid, and dramatic improvements in the skin following PRP injections are unlike any results we’ve seen from other skin rejuvenation treatments and cosmetic surgery.
How Does This Revolutionary Treatment Work?
To understand how PRP works, one must first understand the role of stem cells and how they work in conjunction with platelets to repair damage throughout the body. Stem cells are the cells from which all other cells are derived. These “workhorse” cells exist naturally in the human body, traveling through the bloodstream to create the new cells that actually heal and rebuild damaged tissue. Stem cells also have the unique ability to develop into new tissues that have the same characteristics as the tissues they’re injected into. However, the body is often unable to direct enough stem cells to damaged areas to quickly repair injuries. This is why it takes some injuries, weeks, months, and even years to completely heal.
Platelets act as a messenger, signaling stem cells to areas throughout the body that are in need of repair, and when concentrated into PRP, platelets attract a larger supply of stem cells to the affected area, accelerating and enhancing the body’s natural repair process.
